No matter your reason for wanting to plan your wedding in 6 months, you can find a step-by-step guide to organising your wedding below.
5-6 Months before the Wedding
Budget : Step one of planning any wedding, whether over 2 years or 6 months, is to figure out your budget. Be realistic when planning your budget, and check out how our guide on How to Plan a Beautiful Budget Wedding for ideas.
Date : Keep flexible with the exact date of your wedding, particularly during peak wedding season. Wedding venues can be booked up to 2 years in advance during these months, so why not opt for a cozy winter wedding instead?
Guestlist & save-the-dates : Once you have a budget, you can start with the guest list and send out your save-the-dates. Having a rough idea of how many people you want to invite will make finding the perfect wedding venue easier.
Venue : Earlier is better when it comes to finding a wedding venue. With Spathios, you can find hundreds of stunning wedding reception venues available by the hour, and our nontraditional venue hire system makes it easier than ever to find the perfect space for the wedding of your dreams.
Wedding dress : When choosing a wedding dress on a limited timeline, let the boutique or shop know ahead of time so they can steer you towards designers with a shorter turnaround period. You can also opt for a High Street wedding dress such as from ASOS or H&M, but they may still need to be tailored or altered.
Suppliers & vendors : Catering, waitstaff, flowers, hair & makeup, the officiant, music…it’s important to lock down all of these key wedding vendors as soon as possible to prevent a headache or disappointment later down the road.
3-4 Months before the Wedding
Bridal party & outfits: If you want to save time, have your bridal party get their own outfits within a certain colour scheme. Remember tux or suit fittings for the groom and groomsmen!
Cake tasting: Your wedding cake should be ordered at least 4 months in advance, but not before you’ve decided on your wedding style, venue, and theme to make sure it fits your vision.
Shoes & jewellery (including the wedding rings!): Make sure to remember not only your wedding rings, but any other jewellery and bridal shoes and accessories you might want for the day.
Decorations: Now is the time to get any additional decorations whether you’re purchasing them, making them, or renting them.
1-2 Months before the Wedding
Bridal hair & makeup trial: Don’t forget to have a hair and makeup trial prior to your wedding day to ensure you like the style and stylist.
Seating plan: Once you’ve chased up all the RSVPs, you’ll be able to make a seating arrangement for your wedding reception.
Marriage licence: Remember to do the official paperwork for your wedding, whether it’s registering with your government or getting a piece of paper.
